MSN and Yahoo are Pissed about Searches for Google

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed.

Every week when I get my list of most searched terms on the web from Wordtracker, I’m always slightly amused to see “google” as one of the top 5 terms [it is every week].

It doesn’t say a lot to the caliber of people online savvy to see how many people are using a search engine to find a search engine and you would HOPE that these people are typing in “google” at some other search engine other than Google; the Wordtracker data is a bundle of search results.

Well it seems that Yahoo and MSN are just a little bit sick of having people search for “google” from their page. Follow the links and notice that they have both included a second search box…as just a not so GENTLE REMINDER that, “ya know, if you’re looking for a search box, to uh, do a search with…well there’s one right in front of you!”

  1. people searching for google may be looking for information about the company, or the stock, and not just the search engine.

  2. MSN users search for Google

Google is one of the top five searches on the internet. Yahoo and MSN can’t be too happy about that, can they? When you search for Google at either of the lesser Big three, you’re greeted with 2 search boxes. I can just hear them saying: &#…

  3. That’s hilarious.
